The program is still being developed but basically it works like this.

We go into a Village and search out the people with the most need. Generally we end up with abandoned or widowed women with children.

We teach the women how to make things WE think are BEAUTIFUL. This is the tricky part. How do you teach someone, who has never been to school, has eaten out of garbage dumps, and perhaps lost their childhood to years of prostitution, that THEY have an ability to CREATE BEAUTY?

Things take TIME in La Tienda, but we are more than willing to give it to these wonderful women, and we are more than blessed in return.

Our Ladies could light up a room with the JOY they emit once they've finished stringing together glittering glass beads. They crowd around as the last touches are added to some Mango sented candles. They breath in deep, then nod and smile beaming with satisfaction.

When their creations actually SELL, when they can bring home some money to feed their under nourished children, THAT'S when they bring down the roof.
